The Pantry is a generosity initiative whose purpose is to help families in the community who are having a difficult time by providing groceries and other needed items. The Pantry is stocked with perishable and non-perishable groceries, including milk and meat, as well as personal and household items. You can support The Pantry by bringing donations during monthly food drives, giving to The Pantry, and spreading the word to your friends and neighbors who may need help.
Backpack Program
The Pantry has increased its commitment to Shady Spring Elementary School (our community partner) through the backpack program. We’re providing all of the food for the program for the entire school year.
Many students receive free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program and National School Breakfast Program. For some children, school meals may be the only meals they eat.
What happens when these kids go home for the weekend?
The Pantry will provide the nutritious and easy-to-prepare food students need to get through the weekend. Each week, we will deliver backpacks to the school for distribution to the children most at risk. We’ll pick up empty backpacks from the prior week and bring them back the following week full of more food and even some yummy treats.
