“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.”

James 1:19-20 (NIV)

God is interested in his kids (us) living rightly. Becoming more and more who he intended us to be when he made us. That kind of life- that journey-isn’t marked with anger. It isn’t marked by raising our voices, trying to get the last word, having a quick opinion, or telling people what to do. However, it is characterized by listening. By hearing people and trying to understand who they are and what they have to say. We show we value people and that we’re more interested in them than ourselves when we take the time to give them our attention and get curious about them and their experiences.
