“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV)

This is a hard one, isn’t it? I mean, when was the last time you made a selfish decision?

These verses get at the heart of being Jesus’ apprentice.  When we humbly value other people more than ourselves and look to their interests instead of ours, it runs completely counter to the way our world works. We’re used to looking out for number one because no one else is going to. Faith is valuing other people’s needs above our own and trusting that God will give us what we need.
