“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?’”
John 11:25-26 (NIV)
Jesus shares this exchange with a dear friend, Martha. She and her sister Mary have just lost their brother, Lazarus – also Jesus’ close friend. Read the whole story in John 11:1-44. Jesus’ comfort in the midst of grief, his stability in the face of uncertainty and doubt is to declare that he, himself, is the life we’re looking for. Jesus is the source–he is where dead things come back to life. This is why we continually look to Jesus. Because we want to truly live, and he is truly the source. “Do you believe this?”
How can you look to Jesus in a new way this week?
